"The Artist," Lane Cosner, sometimes known by his nom de plume as "El Sea," resides in the legendary state of Jefferson, in the lands commonly known as southwest Oregon. Nested within the rugged Siskiyou mountains, he lives with his gifted young son, their loyal mixed wolf companion and neurotic wild cat, and works from his home at "Siskiyou Art" studio. Lane has painted and illustrated for many years, with emphasis on the oil mediums, but also in other diverse art forms and expressions. For many years he concentrated on landscape painting but has moved gradually over the years into visionary and surrealistic themes.

Lane Cosner has shown his works from Boulder, Colorado to California and up into Oregon. He also has designed numerous full color posters for large outdoor music festivals in California. He has been heavily influenced by eastern and western esoteric traditions, native peoples beliefs and various other schools of thought, including the great renaissance that exploded onto the world in the 1960's.

passions as well as the firm belief that art can be a potent magickal force. In itself, a vehicle for higher energies and influences, a conduit for these to "speak and act through" akin to a talismanic artifact.

Lane has experimented now for several years with oils and an Alkyd-based medium, finding the flexibility and toughness possibly contributing to long archival characteristics for those pieces. This is combined with the finest quality pigments and substrates such as true portrait Linen or fine woven Hemp; assuring that all current and future works have been executed using the finest ingredients and materials obtainable at the present time.

The artist has also done outdoor and indoor murals and can be commissioned for these projects too. Outdoor murals can be done in a modular fashion allowing the removal and transport of sets to future different locations. All exterior mural work is completely final coated with a water-based polyurethane and built in UV protection. This technique encourages the longevity of each piece over the years with minimal fading and environmental damage.

Lane has also done many pen and ink drawings of extreme detail and has illustrated a number of books, posters and flyers. The artist attributes some of his inspiration to the incredible works of R. Crumb, one of the great masters of the pen. Lane is open to any logo or poster design intuitively knowing the balance and message that each needs to convey.

Currently the artist has taken up the learning of watercolor in the field capturing the spirit of rare and endemic wildflowers and other wilderness species. He is fortunate to live near one of the last and unfortunately endangered wilderness areas left on the planet. Actively participating and encouraging others to stand up and defend these precious islands of genetic diversity for all future generations.

Siskiyou Art Studio will be happy to discuss any and all ideas you may have and gladly accepts commissions. Always assuring the customer of fine quality work and an investment that will stand the test of time.
